NOV Fiber Glass Systems (FGS)

NOV Fiber Glass Systems (FGS) designs and engineers high performance pipe and fittings specifically for the demanding requirements of offshore platforms and onboard marine systems under the brand name Bondstrand®. Rigid industry standards, applied globally, set by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and specific 3rd party Classification Societies, guarantee that product and system design is never compromised. Compliance to these high standards is maintained through a commitment within the company by all employees, regular audits by internal and third-party auditors of the Registered Quality Systems (ISO 9001), regular training on state-of-the-art engineering and design methods and our global network of Sales, Service and Supply agents.

Bondstrand pioneered the use of GRE (glass fiber reinforced epoxy) piping in marine applications (MOS1000) in the early 1990’s.  This effort resulted in the IMO issuing Resolution A.753(18) identifying the “Guidelines for the Application of Plastic Pipes on Ships” in November 1993.  This document allowed replacement of heavy, corrosion-prone steel pipe in many applications.  Weight and life cycle costs have been dramatically reduced where GRE piping has been used.  This is particularly the case where offshore projects (MOS1100) reach a critical weight limit or access to piping is next to impossible, such as in many double-hull vessels.  API Standard 14G identifies the expected life of GRE piping to be a minimum of 30 years.  Many Bondstrand systems are likely to prove that expectation to be low.

Bondstrand Marine products are applicable in systems ranging from fire protection (both wet and dry) to ballast lines, deck drains to engine room cooling water. Available features include electrical conductivity, factory applied passive fire protection (PFP) to several different levels of fire endurance and choice to include a corrosion resistant liner.  Products are Type Approved to pressures up to 25 bar (360 psi.) in diameters ranging from 1” to 40” (25 to 1000 mm.).  Other products can be submitted for Case Approval to meet project needs.
